The 1.6 carat D colour flawless diamond is the first piece of a collection of creatively crafted diamonds that the brand is about to launch

Mumbai-based jeweller Ghanasingh Be True has just unveiled a unique creation – a diamond cut to the likeness of Lord Ganpati, that is the first piece of a limited-edition collection of creatively crafted shapes of diamonds that the brand is about to launch. Commenting on the piece, Krishaa Ghanasingh, Director at Ghanasingh Be True, says, “It is a 1.6 carat D colour flawless diamond, created in the shape of Lord Ganpati. We always try to create something new and different, because our clients look to us for unique couture pieces. In fact, the Ganpati-shaped diamond was something they were asking for.”

For design ideas to be adapted into collections, the team at Ghanasingh Be True always comes up with mood boards and this time was no different. “We have been working on this for a long time. Looking at the mood boards, we always select one idea that we think will do well. So, when the creative team came up with various mood boards and ideas, this is the one we thought will resonate with our clients,” explains Ghanasingh, adding that Gautam Ghanasingh, CEO and Creative Director of Ghanasingh Be True, considered the shapes in which diamonds were already being cut and used in their jewellery, and also how the market has evolved, and then zeroed in on the idea of creating a line of unique shapes with diamonds.

On whether the Ganpati-shaped diamond is intended for use in jewellery or meant to be a collector’s item, Ghanasingh says, “We can of course craft it in a pendant or ring or other jewellery, according to what the client requires.”

On being asked if it would have been more of a talking point and perhaps attracted new customers, had it been launched around the Ganpati festival, Ghanasingh is quick to point out that at this time, where the world is poised, clients ask for all kinds of peace and tranquility symbols – such as Om pendants and rudraksh malas – all year round. “Everyone has gone into yoga, meditation, chanting, spirituality… especially post COVID… and pieces like the Ganpati-shaped diamond will do well at any given time. I don’t think people need to wait for the Ganpati festival to ask for a Ganpati piece. With Akshay Tritiya round the corner, people will want anything to do with positivity, and Ganpati has always been the God to start the festive season with,” she observes.

The Ganpati-shaped diamond is currently available at Ghanasingh Be True Jewels’ Bandra store in Mumbai. The entire creative diamond collection will have just one piece of each design, and will be available at the brand’s flagship stores in Bandra and Banjara Hills, Hyderabad once it is launched.

Ghanasingh Be True Jewels has a legacy of 115+ years and is known for its craftsmanship and unique designs. True to its legacy, Krishaa Ghanasingh says that the brand’s USP is creating limited edition pieces, and it will continue to produce them in future.
